Versions and history¶
The Data storage module supports file versions and history (log) of changes. You can upload a new version of an existing file, view the list of versions, and download a specific version. For each file a log of entries is available – who uploaded the file or uploaded a new version, and when.
New version of a file¶
To update a file (e.g. a document after editing) without creating a duplicate, use New version. In the file list click the “New version” action for that file. A dialog opens to upload a new file – select a file from disk (typically the same name with updated content). After upload a new version is created; the original version remains in history and you can download it anytime. The current (latest) version is marked as “Current” in the version list.
Version list and download¶
In the Versions (or Version history) dialog for the selected file you see a table: Version, Uploaded by, When, Size. For each version there is a Download button – you download that specific version. This is used e.g. to restore an older version or to compare changes.
History (log)¶
In the History (log) dialog, entries for uploads and versions of the file are shown – date and time, user (who saved), and type of operation. If there are no entries, a “No entries” message is shown. The log helps with auditing and finding when a file was added or changed.
